The course will introduce the student to the wonderful world of Hispanic American Literature. Through critical reading and literary analysis of a select group of texts, or fragments of texts, the student will discover the value of the Spanish language as a reliable reflection of time, mentality, beliefs, fears, struggles, etc. of society and its circumstances. The course will explore Pre-Hispanic Literature to the beginning of Romanticism. Prerequisite: One course in Spanish numbered 299 or higher or placement.
