This course asks how experiences of oppression and marginalization impact our understanding of who God is as well as our imagination for faithful practice in the church and world. The course treats liberation theology as a movement that continues to bring about new theological methods and insights. Thus, the course begins with some of the foundational texts from Latin American, feminist, Black, and womanist theology before taking up more contemporary conversations, such as ecofeminist, queer, decolonial, and disability (crip) theologies. Liberation theologies from a variety of contexts throughout the world are also incorporated.
