Certificates of Advanced Theological Studies

The following set of offerings allow for clergy to engage in further study and coursework at the School of Theology appropriate to their educational needs without enrolling in a degree program. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.67 or above is eligible for the Certificate of Advanced Theological Studies.

Certificate of Advanced Theological Study

This certificate is designed for clergy who already have a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and are seeking advanced coursework in any subject without enrolling in a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) program. Students participate in two summers of in person study with other D.Min. students and take four courses (12 credits) of their choosing.

Upon completion of any four courses students may receive a certificate or be admitted into the D.Min. program for further study.

Certificate of Advanced Study in Homiletics

This certificate is designed for clergy who already have a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and are seeking advanced coursework in homiletics without enrolling in a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) program. Students participate in two summers of in person study with other D.Min. students and take the following curriculum.

  • 4 Courses (12 Credits) in Homiletics
  • 2 Core (6 Credits)
  • 2 Elective (6 Credits)

Upon completion of the four courses students may receive a certificate or be admitted into the D.Min. program for further study.

Certificate of Advanced Study in Liturgics

This certificate is designed for clergy who already have a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and are seeking advanced coursework in liturgics without enrolling in a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) program. Students participate in two summers of in person study with other D.Min. students and take the following curriculum.

  • 4 Courses (12 Credits) in Liturgics
  • 2 Core (6 Credits)
  • 2 Elective (6 Credits)

Upon completion of the four courses students may receive a certificate or be admitted into the D.Min. program for further study.
